Have you ever wondered why, at times, life makes no sense at all? Well, consider how hard it is to get someone to answer the phone when you call a bank or internet provider. Making the call is easy, but navigating through endless “please push one for English, please push two for Spanish,” menus that lead back to question one can be aggravating at best. Computers, all computers, have built-in glitches. “It is inevitable.” as Agent Smith liked to say.
You remember Agent Smith; the Matrix secret-agent out to hunt down Neo? Well, according to many scientists, the Matrix is inevitable. Some would even argue that the matrix is our reality today. According to Clara Moskowitz, Neil deGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium, puts the odds at 50-50 that we are already living in a vast and complex simulation created by alien beings. The billionaire founder of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, suggests the odds to be a bit less, one in billions.
So, how would your life change if you discovered that your existence was merely a simulation of reality? Would you go to work tomorrow morning, or pack it in and live out your simulated days in leisure?
I may put in for a few more memory chips and a software upgrade.
